Things you need to know to make sure that your pages are displayed correctly
In the last pagebloom sports update we mentioned that all sports websites hosted on the pagebloom sports system that had not previously purchased an SSL certificate have now been automatically updated to use SSL security.Online security is so important that Step Ahead Software have decided to provide SSL security to all pagebloom hosted websites at no extra cost.
Do I have to change any of my content?
As an extra precaution browsers will not allow any insecure content from any secure page. All pages on your club's website are now secure so this mandates that all content within your pages comes from secure sources. This can affect any content that is derived from other non secure websites. For example, if you have embedded an iframe into your page of, say, your Facebook page then this may or may not display, depending on whether or not you have used the secure or non secure form of the Facebook link.
We noticed that some sites had been using http://www.facebook.com?.... instead of https://www.facebook.com?.... and this caused the browsers to show blank content where the facebook page content should be displayed.
This setting is in Webiste > Settings > Social networking settings.
Today we have gone through and updated all pagebloom websites that include their facebook page to use https instead of http.
If you have any other content like this or images that are pulled in from other websites please be aware that if you don't see that content anymore it is likely due to using http: instead of https: in the link to that content.
Referring people to our club's website?
As you may already know secure websites start with https:// instead of the traditional, non secure, http://.You may be concerned that any existing links from other websites, posters, stickers, emails etc., may no longer work now that the URL has changed to https: from http: but all existing links TO your website should continue to work fine - pagebloom performs automatic redirection from any insecure form of your domain name to to the secure form.
For example, if a user visits your site by typing any of the following URLs:
- myclub.com.au
- https://www.myclub.com.au
Thanks for taking the time to read these important details about your pagebloom sports website and the new security features.
